A couple of months ago, I took my youngest daughter to her pediatrician because she was convinced that the dirty rotten swine everyone in school was talking about had entered her body. Now, I'm just sayin', when I'm taking my kids to the doctors because they don't feel well, I can tell you right now all I want is good old antibiotics prescribed. So when I hear the pediatrician say it's just the "common cold", I pretty much want to rip their head off. Yes, doctor, I understand about antibiotic resistance and mutating bacteria, but I paid my $25.00 co-pay to hear that it's the "common cold" and oh yea there is no cure? It's viral, not bacterial? Ugh! No prescription where you will feel like a new person by the next morning? Pahllease!
Will someone please explain to me the term "common cold"? Apparently, it usually resolves spontaneously 7 to 10 days, with some symptoms possibly lasting up to three weeks. Umm...are you kidding me? But, but it's common? I've often pondered if everyone knows there is not a cure for the "common cold", are there scientists out there working on it? If it's "common", shouldn't we know a bit more about how to cure it? Do I really have to get on my 'we can send a man to the moon' soapbox?
Well, a few weeks ago, I had the "common cold". Not just a regular old 'I can funtion' cold but a 'just get up and go to school kids because I'm miserable and I will bite your head off' cold. Anyway, a friend recommended Zicam, a homeopathic remedy. It's trademarked with "get over your cold faster". Well, I gave the Zicam Cold Remedy Rapid Melts a whirl and in less than three days, my "common cold" orbited itself out of my body.
Now, I'm no scientist, but I'm happy to have found this product and now know that there is someone out there working on it. Just wanted to pass this info along to you folks.
